The main purpose of this session is to share information about Beyond the Book for the coming year and seek robust feedback from session participants. Together, we will workshop plans for book selection, for sharing the books and theme-based discussions with the LCC community, and for facilitator support. Selected 2021-2022 books will be announced. In this session, we will celebrate the work of this year’s Beyond the Book facilitators, team, and participants, and shape Beyond the Book for 2021-2022.

Going Beyond the Book
Beyond the Book program is an Office of Diversity initiative focused on embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at the campus-wide level by exploring four themes with four different books.
Themes are:
Gender & Self-Identity (How does the intersectionality of our identities influence our and others’ activities, behaviors, and understandings in and of the world, with a focus on gender?),
Global & Cultural Perspectives (How does the intersectionality of our identities influence our and others’ activities, behaviors, and understandings in and of the world, with a focus on international and global perspectives?),
Accessibility & Advocacy (How does the intersectionality of our identities influence our and others’ activities, behaviors, and understandings in and of the world, with a focus on abledness and or “disability”?), and
Diversity & Racial Equity (How does the intersectionality of our identities influence our and others’ activities, behaviors, and understandings in and of the world, with a focus on racial equity?).
During this session, it will be shared and discussed with session participants the plans for Beyond the Book for the upcoming year. Selected books will be announced.
