Join us for an open conversation around strategies and ideas for developing learning materials targeting the needs of our underprepared students. Following the transition to online learning for all students during the COVID-19 pandemic, we identified a need to better support students with less robust academic skills as readers and active learners when working with core concepts in our Introduction to Sociology OER textbook. We are currently working on an update to our Introduction to Sociology OER textbook incorporating engaged learning activities throughout the text, student workbook activities, and a faculty teaching guide sharing in-depth engaged learning activities focused on core concepts from the text. As we continue to develop this project, we would like to share our current ideas around supporting diverse learning needs and also open the floor to hear about yours.
