Greetings, my name is Megan Lin Megan Lin, white woman with dark blond hair. Outdoors with blue sky and green tree background.and I’m very happy to be facilitating this course! I’ll add some things about myself here because I’d like for you to get a vibe a who I am.  I’m looking forward to getting to know you in this class- it’s the best part for me!

I’ve been here at LCC for 13 years; nine of those were as a faculty member, teaching in the Integrated English Department. My area of expertise is in teaching reading and writing, but I’ve also taught several ESOL, ENGL 121,  and First Year Experience courses. For the past three years, I am enjoying the Director position in the Center for Teaching Excellence. The focus of my CTE work is on transformative teaching, open education, inclusive pedagogy and online teaching and learning. My MA is in Reading and Literacy from Eastern Michigan University.

If you were to ask my students about my teaching style, they would probably tell you that I’m pretty laid back.

I have two sons, 20 and 22, who are both MSU (and LCC) students.Asher and Sage, young Asian/American men wearing white tshirts, in a gym

Some of my interests are:

  • I have 9 chickens and worked all summer on this new coop & pen
  • I like to photograph old barns.Old white barn with a blue sky background and big tree with yellow leaves in front.
  • I love inspirational quotes or ones that make me think. Here’s one for the start of this course:

“Every kind word you say to someone becomes a part of them and you. The same is true for unkind words”. -Author unknown
